This particular painting was inspired by a memory of a dinosaur experience that dates back to when my sister and I were little. We both were completely convinced that we had seen and played with a real live dinosaur. We talked about it a lot growing up. I later found some information about a place called Drumheller in Alberta. It is the home to a dinosaur artifacts and a museum here in Canada. My dad had worked in Alberta when we were little and we must have found our way to this museum. But the better story lies in the one we conjured up and embellished over the years in our childish minds! I am saddened when a fantasy that I believed in with my childish innocence has been dis-proven" by facts" (the "F" word). But we all seem to reach an age when we stop believing in fantasy and we start believing in stone cold facts!
I think I am coming full circle in my thinking around "reality"! I think we are truly onto something as children. I believe that our ability to access those fabulous early stories in our imaginations is our ticket into a virtual store house for creative ideas. The real truth lies not in facts, but in what we believe is possible!
