So this is what our salon (boat term for living-room) looked like last night! I got my second batch of cards printed out by Metropol here in Victoria, and they turned out awesome! I know that I paid to have them done, but last night when my wonderful husband and I were folding, stamping, signing and putting my art cards in their protective sleeves, I felt like my heart was going to burst right out of my chest! I felt proud that these were "my" cards and that I had done this! I could really imagine people wanting them on their shelves. I would want them on mine! And I am not always so confident!
I just want to tell you a story about getting these cards printed by the great guys at Metropol. We went in to look at the proofs the first time, after leaving them over a long weekend and into Wednesday, and they were so crazy busy that they had forgotten about our order. I went away feeling a little sad and disappointed, but I really liked the young guys working there, so I agreed to come back later the next day.
Anyway, Barry went to pick up the proofs they were a little washed out, which I have learned is not uncommon because the translation from the file to the printer is not the same. So we took the proof back in and bumped up the intensity a bit to be more like the originals. When they pinted a proof right there, I knew it was bang on, because my heart began to sing, and I felt invigorated by the possibilities! I almost couldn't contain myself!
Long story short when we arrived to pick up the cards the following day, our order had been forgotten again! I could have gotten all huffy and upset, but I could see that these guys were doing their level best and it is crazy busy there (for a reason - they do great work). So all in all it took about a week to get them printed out (not so bad). The cost was way better than the print shop we used in Winslow, on Bainbridge Island this past summer. And the cards!!! They are so beautiful! The paper is amazing and they used almost all of the card area for the image. The bio on the back looks stunning! I am over the moon! I can't believe this my product! Yipeee!!!! It was well worth the wait...like a week is a long time anyway! So exercising patience and believing in people really does pay off. Nothing is life threatening. It was not a big deal if I got the cards a few days earlier. I had a chance to develop a relationship with these guys. And they said, "You guys are awesome!" Not that I am bragging, but having the people who are doing a job that is so meaningful to you, feel kindly towards you, affects the quality of the product. Good energy all around. This is what I believe to be true!
I wanted to add to yesterday's post that there are two people I would love to give credit to for my having this website up and running now, even though there are still lots of bumps, and that is Kelly Rae Roberts for her ecourse "Flying Lessons:Tips and Tricks To Help Your Creative Business Soar, The Whole Shabang", and Nicola Holland, for her "Free Online Tool Kit". Both of these women are God sent. They are beautiful, positive and driven. And their energy is contageous! If you have had some whispers in your heart,( like I have had my whole life!) don't ignore it. Go for it! Step by step you will make your way towards your wildest dreams! I believe in you! xo
