It is a drizzly day here in the beautiful Pacific North West! I always like a rainy day when you can hear the cozy sound of those giant water balls hitting the deck on the fly bridge of our boat/home/studio, in the stunning inner harbour of Victoria! Once again....blessed! It comes with a cost (living on a boat that is) though, like every thing worth while! Space is what I sacrifice. When I want to paint, and I do often, I have to drag in the comfy wicker chair from the cock pit, cover everything up and set it up, set the table in the "big" mode, cover it up and drag out all my supplies. Then I get to set up shop. Last night I did all this again to finish my antelope painting. As you can see my antelope is very creative herself! A funny story about her, my grandson Kai, the eight year old red headed wonder, was over a few nights ago. I asked him what he thought of my painting. He offered his usual, "Good"! I tried to squeeze a little more engagement out of him by jokingly telling him, "She painted that picture, you know", referring to the antelope in the painting. Kai looked at me with his big blue eyes and said, "Yeah, I know." To which he immediately covered hs naivity up with, "But you painted that picture, right?" I love kids! I love Kai!
So, with regards to yesterday and my query about setting up a zazzle or society6 store, I had a very informative conversation with the very talented Lulu over at Lulu Mypinkturtle (I love her stuff so much! Check her out on her at her link I have added, or at: https://mypinkturtleshop.etsy.com
www.etsy.com30% off ENTIRE SHOP ! BLACK FRIDAY SALE starts NOW ! Please use COUPON code BLACKFRIDAY upon checking out ! Sale ends December 2 at midnight !
Lulu and I had a conversation about selling a person's art products via a store like Society6. She had recently gone that route with her beautiful pillows (which by the way are delicious, and can now be purchased via her etsy store!). She said that while she had a tremendous response to her images produced in this way, there are a few serious things to consider before you rush out and have your images plastered on virtually any object you can think of. The first issue is that you can not watermark your images on these stores, so it opens it up to people stealing your images! That is not a good thing, and as you can imagine protecting her rights to her work is very important. She has quite a following and she does not want to make it easy for people to steal your art work!
Well now I have even more information now to process and use in starting up my store. The bottom line though, is that I need to just do something. I can't sit on the fence too long. And as my darling hubby likes to say, " Fifty percent of something is better than a hundred percent of nothing"! Right you are Barry, so the next time I talk to you all, I will have something tangible to report with regards of making some concrete steps towards doing something towards that end! That is my promise for today! Adios for now! Enjoy your Saturday all! xo
