Another Friday in the process of making this project a reality is here. I have learned so much this week and still had a couple of days in there to be creative, which filled me up again and gave me the reserve to get back at this business stuff. I am not a "business-y" person at all, so this is a real challenge to my poor brain....probably good exercise really!
So, what exactly have I been working on you ask (well in my mind you are curious enough to ask...lol)? I have been trying to figure out how to set up a shop on my website to sell my cards and prints on wooden panels. I am still trying to figure out how to link a shop to Pay Pal, and link Pay Pal to a bank account where I am going to operate my business out of. Also I am trying to figure out how to calculate shipping and add that information to all of this. In the process of doing all this, I realize how little I know about all of this kind of thing. This is uncharted territory for me. So to that effect, if anyone has any help to offer me along the way, on any of this stuff, I am all ears and very appreciative.
Also, I have been perusing other people's website for ideas and inspiration (as a kind of homework to do some thinking about the sort of elements I like in those websites), watching tutorials that would have never held my attention prior to starting this project (there is sooo much information out there on You Tube!), while at the same time attempting to integrate that inspiration into my website, so it represents who I am as a person. In between being frustrated by making mistakes that seem to have no easier fix than starting all over from scratch, and publishing a page only to find out it is all wrong somehow, when I go to my website, I am actually somewhat enjoying this learning process and feel a sense of accomplishment when I get something right (big pat on the back inserted here...lol)!
So, I am going to put some more time in this week towards the above mentioned business-y stuff, try and set up an Etsy store, and for some reason I have been seeing these new fangled stores online that you sell your designs to, and they produce it on pillows, mugs, iSkins etc, like zazzle, and society6. These are exciting times when technology is such that we can do this kind of thing! Check it out for yourself. I am seriously thinking about going this route. Let me know what you think about this, if you are using one of these or a different site to sell your art or craft. I like that you still own the rights to your artwork and can make sales while you sleep, paint and live your life.....cuz there has to be time for all that too, right? My husband, Barry, probably hopes so!
Anyway....this is where I am at! Schools in every day! I intend to come out of this with a degree in "Helpyourselfology"! I am chosing to do this thing a little differently than things I have done in the past. That is to do this journey one step at a time. Because a journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step, right? And if I can help someone else with their journey, by sharing what I am learning it will be a good journey indeed!
Happy Black Friday, remember, you don't need that bargain that badly that you step on your fellow shoppers toes! Peace and Love to you all!
